This 1910 single bay villa was extensively extended and renovated to suit the needs of a growing family. A second level was added, including a bedroom, bathroom and games room to cater for teenage years.
The front of the house was extended to provide a new bedroom and also enhance the outside character. This created space for a new bathroom and laundry. A fireplace was removed and a bay window installed opening up the formal dining area.
The existing family room was opened up to form a new informal dining area and also provide better indoor/outdoor flow to the pool and outdoor entertainment space.
The very complex roof design created challenges, as did ensuring that the character of the heritage home was maintained and enhanced. New leadlight windows were added to the front entrance/vestibule and hallway. Kauri flooring was continued through the newly formed informal dining area enhancing the subtle colour scheme.
The result is a stylish family orientated character home.
